Summer arrived with scorching heat which created some challenges that we don’t usually have here in the foggy PNW. Our summers are traditionally cool in the mornings with marine air burning off mid-morning to sunshine. Evenings can be a bit breezy, especially during unusually high/low tides. Yes, we are close enough to the ocean to get tidal activity. Pay close attention to tide tables if you are out enjoying the waterways. It’s no fun to get your kayak stuck in a low tide and have to walk it back to shore!
Fires are a concern this year, so please use designated fire pits and make sure that fire is totally extinguished before walking away. Stir in water and watch for embers. Don’t burn in wooded areas (there is a burn ban right now), don’t toss burning materials out and check your tow vehicles for sparking.
Come enjoy our beautiful area with amazing sunsets, magical sunrises, moonscapes on the water and lots of wildlife to photograph. Bring your bikes, kayaks, sailboats or paddle boards to explore with. Visit our downtown Main Street for fun dining and shopping. Don’t miss the great historical opportunities too.
Some great places to wander include Puget Island, Skamokawa, Grays River and Rosburg too!
Stop by the Chamber of Commerce Tourism office for additional information, maps, recommendations and a cup of coffee! We are open M-S from 9-5.
