Wahkiakum County – Cathlamet, Skamokawa, Puget Island
As you venture around our site you will find out about our interesting history, and why many of our residents have chosen to live here or open a business. We want you to come and join us either for a day, a week or move here to retire or open a new business. Wahkiakum County and our Chamber embrace newcomers and love to tell our story.
It is a story of many different people from all over the world joining together to make it home and a way of life. Wahkiakum county was originally settled by the Chinook Indians – then Russian fur traders, Scandinavian farmers and loggers, Chinese cannery workers, and easterners looking for gold and land at the end of the Oregon Trail.
Come explore our communities, enjoy the beauty, have fun at our events, go fishing, kayaking or hiking, stay in one of our campgrounds, hotels or bed and breakfast establishments, visit our museums, and shop with our merchants. We think you’ll quickly discover why we love this area so much!
Thank you for visiting. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or want more information.
